Ian Booth

A University of WA law graduate, I was admitted in Western Australia in 1994, and have worked in a variety of roles as a commercial and litigation lawyer: – in private practice for leading local and national firms, as well as in-house roles, and running my own practice.  I have also had extensive experience as an executive in the film and television sector, including over ten years as the CEO of the WA film and television development agency Screenwest, and more recently as an executive producer of Australian feature films RAMS, STAR DREAMING, NINGALOO and WHALE SUPER HIGHWAY.  I currently act for a number of leading production companies and organisations in the film and television sector.

As a litigator I have briefed senior counsel and undertaken trials in the Supreme and Magistrates Courts, and appeared in the Federal and District Courts, Fair Work Commission, and the WA Industrial Relations Commission.  Matters have included a wide variety of commercial disputes, including insolvency matters, partnership disputes, and employment matters.

Being commercially minded, my aim is to provide early, strategic advice to clients, seeking to resolve commercial matters and disputes in a timely, cost effective way.

I am currently a Board member of the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, and have previously served on the Boards of Ausfilm, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and Awesome.

Outside of work – when not spending time with my family I am either watching or still attempting to play AFL football and basketball.
